PLAYGROUND MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR

Giving a child the ability to play on the playground can help them physically, communicatively, socially, emotionally, and even help them develop cognitively if vital to us. All of this needs to happen in a safe environment. In addition to helping children with all of those things, it is crucial to make sure that your playground is well maintained.

PLAYGROUND INSPECTION FREQUENCY AND PROCESS

Because playground equipment unfortunately changes due to use, abuse and climate, they must be inspected regularly. However, the frequency of your inspections are determined by many factors such as equipment age, usage and materials. Some external factors include age and size of the users, climate and vandalism. Regardless of a playground’s attributes, there are two types of inspections that should be performed: low frequency and high frequency. Here at Playground Service And Repair, we have extensive knowledge about playground mechanics and equipment. This provides us with the ability to perform accurate and efficient inspections.

low frequency inspections

Low-frequency inspections are typically performed quarterly or semi-annually. This type of inspection is an in-depth look into the playground’s surfacing and equipment specifically for wear and tear. During or after the inspection, staff should do preventive maintenance, repairs, and/or safely remove damaged equipment to remove problems discovered throughout the inspection.

high frequency inspections

High-frequency inspections are often performed daily or weekly. These inspections look for issues caused by use, weather, and vandalism. During high-frequency inspections, staff checks for loose-fill surfacing depths, sanitation issues, and the presence of trash or debris. If any of these issues are discovered, staff should follow the school or agency procedures to correct the problem. These procedures often include completing documentation and removing the problem.

PLAYGROUND inspection process

When installing new play equipment, it is good practice to have that equipment audited by a Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI). The audit will note conditions that are not compliant with the current industry standards and will also form the basis for a systematic program of removal, repair, and/or retrofit.

We repair and maintain recreational playground equipment and structures made by many different manufacturers including, Play and Park, Playcore, Miracle, GameTime, Playworld Systems, Little Tikes, Landscape Structures, Columbia Cascade, and Big Toys.
